Ukulele for Beginners: Setting up your ukulele

18 Oct
So you bought your ukulele for beginners and have it in your hands. You have been playing it, but it just doesn't sound quite right. The first thing is to make sure it's in tune. Just about any tuner will do. It doesn't have to be something expensive. The standard tune is GCEA. The top string is G and the bottom is A. I memorized this by remembering "Good Cooks Eat A lot"

Now that it's tuned, here is an article on how to setup your ukulele to make it sound the best it can.

Ideally you want to purchase from a dealer who will do the setup for you. However, this isn't always possible and it's not a bad idea to know how to do it yourself. If you have an ukulele shop close to you, then it is always a good idea to get their advice and help.
