Cheap Ukuleles: Not All Bad

Normally, I tend to go with the "you get what you pay for" slogan. I say it because it's usually true. However, in the last few years it seems easier to get better quality for lower prices. Most ukuleles are mass produced, but the technology and processes are getting better and better. This is particularly true for the lower end Makala ukuleles. Both the Makala Dolphin and the Makala MKS are lower end (if not bottom end) ukuleles, but with a proper setup and some good strings can compete with ukuleles, that are much more expensive.
